NYRx is a Municipal Cooperative formed pursuant to Section 119-o of the NYS General Municipal Law. Its purpose is to deliver prescription benefits to eligible employees and retirees of public sector employers in New York State and to achieve cost savings through the following:

  • Deeper network discounts through enhanced pricing models.
  • Lower administrative costs through group purchasing.
  • Consulting support for clinical programs.
  • Data analysis and recommendations for plan changes during the collective bargaining process.
  • Long term cost control.
  • Pass through pricing with full disclosure.

NYRx was formed in 2007 and currently has four public sector members. Each was able to achieve cost savings while maintaining their own unique collectively bargained prescription benefit plans.
